Outreach & Education

The Crane Opera Ensemble is proud of its Education Outreach activities associated with one production each academic year.

We offer pre-performance prep sessions conducted by cast members or specially designated education team leaders. The sessions run 30—45 minutes in length and are scheduled according to participating school’s schedules approximately 2 weeks prior to the performance. Supplemental materials are available to teachers who wish to review with students before they attend.

The day of the matinee performance, school groups can bring a bag lunch or arrange to eat in our Lehman Dining Hall. After lunch, they are escorted to a variety of post-performance workshops conducted by cast members. Students can choose to participate in one of five workshops related to the nature of the performance they just attended (generally, theatre improv, vocal improv, costuming, dance or movement, and one additional topic). Teachers meet with director Carleen Graham before going on to observe the workshops as time permits.
