The Crane Opera Ensemble has served the North Country community through its education outreach program since 2000. Each year, students from our region attend a full performance, plus have opportunities to interact with our students and experience the SUNY Potsdam campus.
We offer pre-performance prep sessions conducted by Crane School of Music students. The sessions run 30-45 minutes in length and are scheduled according to participating school’s schedule approximately two weeks prior to the performance. Supplemental materials are available to teachers who wish to review with students before they attend.
Schools groups who attend the morning matinee eat lunch on campus immediately following the performance (either pre-arranged at Lehman Dining Hall or they can bring their own lunch and eat in the Knowles Conference Center). After lunch, school groups will return to Snell Theater for a Talk-Back Session and interactive games with the cast. Or, school groups may arrange for a campus tour through SUNY Potsdam’s Office of Admissions.
The education outreach performance for the world premiere of Mayo (by Tom Cipullo) will be on Thursday, November 8 at 9:30 AM. Seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
